ABSTRACT
Taking into account Poland’s obligation to meet the requirements of the Directive
2008/57/WE related to railways two existing conceptions of the passenger cars (157Aa
and 167A) are presented that meet the Directive criteria. The differences in the interior
arrangement are depicted, according to the adopted way of boarding a passenger on the
wheelchair. Attention was paid to necessary infrastructure preparation with a view to
make use of full opportunities provided by both coaches.
